Samsung CLP-300 Driver and Manual (User Guide)
The Samsung CLP-300 is astonishingly compact for a color laser printer. It fits comfortably on the desk, which should also be able to withstand it easily because it is not particularly heavy at 13.7 kilograms. More importantly, it worked extremely quietly for a model with a multi-pass printing unit. In addition, the device quickly switched to sleep mode in the test, which further reduced the operating noise.
The color prints turned out to be quite light and had good details. However, some users noticed stripes, especially on colored surfaces. In black and white mode, on the other hand, the Samsung CLP-300 printed with a full job, which, for example, suffered from the reproduction of fine lines. That didn’t do the letter sharpness any good either. The smaller the text, the more the satellite dots affect legibility. This is shown by our close-up of a text that is only 4 points small, which we recorded with the special camera of our sister publication Tecchannel – see illustration. The toners are placed in kegs. If a color is printed blank, the corresponding keg is simply pulled out and replaced with a new one. This is particularly easy because the cartridges are located behind a flap on the front of the printer and are therefore easily accessible.
In addition to the common Windows versions, the device also supports the Linux and Mac OS operating systems. That is lush. But there were no surprises in terms of interfaces: The Samsung CLP-300 uses USB 2.0 high-speed locally. It offers an Ethernet connection for network operation. The memory configuration is okay with 64 MB. However, the memory cannot be expanded.
